Description: Our client is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team in Cheshire. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

Specific Position Objectives:

Maintain and continue to develop a high-quality system of financial internal controls and processes to ensure adequate control and monitoring is exercised over all relevant areas, including financial reporting, banking, investment management, expense payments, credit control and all financial systems and data. Ensure that all internal and external financial management reports are produced accurately, on time and with consistency. Liaise with business managers (claims and underwriting, in particular) to generate high-quality management reports, which underpin the Companys Board and shareholder reporting process. Oversee maintenance and preparation of the Company’s various management and statutory documentation and returns, such as: All Company tax and related returns (including Corporation Tax, VAT and IPT). Comprehensive monthly and quarterly audit working paper files and other documentation to support financial management information and statutory accounts and to satisfy internal audit and Sarbanes Oxley control evidentiary requirements. All of the Companys FSA returns, Report and Accounts and other necessary returns. Work with the CFO to administer the Companys Business Planning and budgeting processes, generate budget data and perform subsequent monitoring of performance against targets.

Academic & Professional Qualifications:

Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent

Experience Requirements:

Strong inter-personal skills and a positive attitude to task-execution and process improvement Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visio and Powerpoint an advantage. Working knowledge of, and ability to apply, business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Very good written and spoken English language skills

Key competencies:

Good accounting technical knowledge (IFRS and US GAAP experience would be an advantage) Very high attention to detail coupled with the commercial nous to also assess issues within a wider business context Good planning and project management ability, with absolute commitment to meeting deadlines Flexibility Problem-solving ability and solutions-focused Effective interpersonal skills Self-starter Team leading and motivation skills Friendly but professional attitude with ability to interact successfully with people at all levels within the organisation
