Description: Our client, a well established, fast-paced and fun Insurance company is recruiting for an experienced construction underwriter to join their team.

This exciting role will demand someone who is very confident in their skin within underwriting and a fundamental understanding of construction risks.

As this is also a business development role we are looking for confident candidates who have an excellent history of broker connections, someone who is competitive, works very well under pressure in a fast paced environment and is self-motivated.

The role itself:

  • Underwriting all construction risks with premiums ranging from £2,000 to in excess of £4 million
  • Work within agreed service levels and underwriting authorities and legal/regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and other business partners
  • Handle general enquiries, renewals and mid-term adjustments.
  • To comply with FCA regulations
  • Develop self to maximise personal contribution to the role
  • Ensure self adheres to agreed internal/external underwriting authorities and is compliant with legal/regulatory requirements, including maintaining up to date knowledge of products and processes
  • Demonstrate the values of the business through appropriate behaviours
  • Be aware of and draw attention to possible financial and reputational risk to the business
  • Develop self to maximise personal contribution to the role

    Key Result Areas:

  • Meet agreed individual sales target and contribute towards agreed team sales target within agreed internal/external service levels
  • Proactive approach to developing profitable broker relationships
  • Deal with incoming enquiries from brokers, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner
  • Manage documents including New Business, Mid Term Adjustment & Renewal
  • Identify Cross Sell Opportunities
  • Promptly deal with diarised items

    Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two years experience in underwriting construction risks
  • Must have a fantastic knowledge of the broker market
