Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a professionally qualified, technically competent yet sales orientated individual to join their team in Jersey.

Your role will be to assist the Managing Director in constructing and implementing the strategic and marketing plan for the company and to maintain and achieve growth in income from existing clients.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To fulfil the role of Director of the Company, providing span of control for the business. These duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Attend Board meetings and prepare reports for meetings.
  • Provide management reporting as required in relation to the insurance business.
  • Formulate and implement the budget for the department
  • Ensure all client insurance programmes are administered in accordance with the Companys policies and procedures manual and rules and service level agreements where appropriate.
  • Oversee the training needs of the department, providing guidance and support to junior members of the department.
  • To understand the business of new and existing Clients, their approach to insurance and risk management and to design and administer insurance solutions for the protection of their material assets, earnings and liabilities.
  • To develop and manage client relationships in accordance with Company procedures and performance standards including visits to existing clients; agreeing timescales; collating information and carrying out timely administration of the Clients insurance programme(s) in a timely, technically accurate and cost effective manner.
  • Ensure collection of premiums is carried out in accordance with Company procedures
  • To manage subordinate staff to ensure they conduct themselves in accordance with the Companys policies, procedures and strategy and that their own objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure all client business and insurer provider relationships are administered in accordance with the Companys policies and procedures manual and rules and service level agreements where appropriate.
  • Always demonstrating the professionalism of the Company when dealing with or visiting clients, dealing with product providers, and in all communications and to conduct the business of the Company at all times in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • To undertake training in line with agreed objectives and keep up-to date with technical, legal and market developments via use of e- learning, internal and external training and reading market related material.
  • To conduct yourself in accordance with the Companys compliance and anti-money laundering procedures, and in particular with meeting regulatory standards set by the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), including (but not limited to)
  • Ensuring that customers receive appropriate and clear information about products in good time, to enable them to make informed choices;
  • Ensuring that advice is suitable for customers and takes into account their requirements and circumstances;
  • Providing a satisfactory service, in accordance with customer expectation
  • Bringing instances of any complaints, non-compliance and concerns generally about the fair treatment of customers to Board attention, including potential conflicts of interest.

    The Person:

    To be considered for this position you will need to have previous experience within management of an insurance broking business, including:

  • Personnel management and motivation
  • Delivering business strategy & growth
  • Manage partner relationships
  • Shaping the client service / experience proposition

    You will be fully conversant with both the sales and technical wording aspects of professional indemnity, D&O and crime insurance covers. Exposure to cyber liability and transactional liability insurances would be advantageous. In addition, knowledge and experience in general commercial classes would also be desired.

    Ideally you will have commenced your CII professional exams, and be hungry to progress these to Diploma and Associate level. (Full company support is provided).
