Motor Claims Handler

Description: Our client, a well respected insurance broker based in Manchester is looking for experienced Motor Claims Handlers to join their expanding team. Your role will be to provide an efficient high quality, reliable Claims Service to Clients, Directors, Account Executives and Account Handlers and manage a caseload of claims in accordance with company requirements and procedures.

Role / Duties:

  • Proactively manage a caseload of motor claims including recovery of client’s uninsured losses
  • Dynamic case management- routinely priorities and action outstanding cases being proactive at all times and not allowing claims to ‘drift’
  • Regularly update both client and insurers alike in accordance with the agreed claims process
  • Provide sensible and considered advice to clients regarding all they can claim for, the route their claim should follow and the likely timescales, whilst at times realistically managing their expectations
  • Ensure that Judgments in default are not obtained against clients
  • Attend regular team meetings, contribute where appropriate
  • Undertake client visits and aid the development of the relationships
  • Maintain claims related excel spreadsheets
  • Provide claims information to the business to assist with policy renewals/ client development
  • Comply with any reasonable request

    The Person

  • Knowledge of insurance principles and underlying legal principles.
  • An understanding of FCA regulations and guidelines
  • Knowledge of insurance broking claims function
  • A thorough understanding of motor claims including fire, theft, accidental damage, third party liability, case law and uninsured losses
  • An understanding of the relevance of the Motor Insurer’s Bureau and Road Traffic Act and their application in relation to motor claims
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • General keyboard skills
