Head of Operations

Description: Our client is looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join their expanding team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with Board colleagues, agree and set monthly and annual forecasts, targets, plans and budgets for the business.
  • In conjunction with Board colleagues be responsible for the business’s achievement of all forecasts, plans, programmes and budgets, and the setting and implementing of Company policies.
  • Constantly monitor performance against objectives, forecasts, plans, targets and budgets, and provide monthly progress reports to the Board.
  • In conjunction with the Board, identify and implement corrective action, as appropriate, where there is deviation in performance below budget, or where other problems occur affecting performance or customer satisfaction
  • Develop and operate Company infrastructure that enables implementation of all programmes and plans necessary to achieve on-going forecasts, targets and budgets.
  • Provide support to Board colleagues in developing and maintaining high standards of morale.
  • Oversee the development of the abilities and skills of all staff through training, counselling and regular appraisal, with the aim of creating a pool of promotable, talented individuals, to ensure the Management succession of the business.
  • Ensure the business recruits and provides necessary training for all staff, to ensure that each has the qualities, abilities and skills needed in their job function to perform satisfactorily and aid the achievement of overall forecasts, plans, targets and programmes of the Company.
  • Assist fellow Board colleagues in ensuring the necessary business systems and controls are in place and maintained to meet the Company’s Regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Assist fellow Board colleagues in ensuring and maintaining a high standard of professionalism, competence, efficiency and concern with customers.

    To apply for this role the successful candidate must have the following skills:

  • Business planning and budget setting methods and requirements.
  • Report-writing and presentation techniques.
  • Training, development, interviewing and appraisal techniques.
  • Personnel requirements and applicable legislation.
  • Health and Safety, Data Protection and Consumer law.
  • The operation of the Company’s IT system, including procedures, authority limits and audit trails.
  • The Company’s Complaints Procedure.
  • The General Insurance market, in respect of both Personal and Commercial insurance.
  • Sales and marketing techniques, and methods.
  • Credit management procedures.
  • Industrial processes and risk management techniques.
  • The Company Acts, from both a legal and financial point of view.

    This job has an office base, but also involves regular travelling to Company offices. Whilst the normal working hours are weekdays between 9am and 5pm, the job holder will be expected to work the necessary time to ensure the responsibilities of the position are fulfilled.
